El dúo dominicano de LDA (Baby Psycho y Orquídea Negra) dividían su tiempo entre contestando preguntas de la prensa y filmando escenas para su nuevo video junto a Reggeatonero Puertorriqueño Baby Ranks y la banda Hate. SG Latina: Primero que todo ¿como te sientes hoy estando aquí filmando este video?
LDA: Me siento bien, muy chévere. Especialmente con tigo aquí.
SG Latina: Gracias. ¿Entonces que lo que están haciendo hoy? ¿Que lo que están filmando?
LDA: Estamos revolucionando el día. Trabajando en una de la canciones del álbum de LDA que se llama “Revolucionado el Genero” con una colaboración de Baby Ranks. Una mezcla nueva para este género mezclando Reggeatón con Hip Hop y Rock.
SG Latina: ¿Que inicialmente lo atrajo al género del Reggeatón?
LDA: Bueno, el sonido urbano [viene] por que soy dominicano. El sonido tropical y [géneros así] lo llevo en la sangre. Son [géneros] caliente [y] a mi me gusta la música movida. Crecí enchuchado el Reggeatón y Hip Hop entonces lo empecé a ser. Pero de verdad en verdad me siento más confortable haciendo Hip Hop.
SG Latina: Entonces, ¿si pudiera colaborar con cualquier artista de Hip Hop con cual seria?
LDA: Tengo muchos artistas con cual quisiera trabajar. Quisiera trabajar con T.I. y Lil Wayne [entre otros] para mete mano fuerte y representar el genero.
SG Latina: Cuéntanos, ¿Como fue que LDA se formo?
LDA: El grupo se formo ocho años atrás. Yo estaba en un concurso de talento de High School y conocí a Orquídea y los otros miembros del grupo (cuales ahora no están con nosotros). Era un grupo grande éramos como seis, estábamos teniendo problemitas y poco a poco el grupo se quedo con Orquídea y [yo] Baby Psycho. Sin ninguna intención fuimos el primer dúo barón y hembra en el genero.
SG Latina: ¿Qué ha aprendido de hacer música juntos?
LDA: Ella y yo tenemos buena química, llevamos el mismo ritmo. [Y] cuando ella se va a su mundo [musicalmente] y yo me voy al mío [siempre encontramos la forma de] complementarnos.
SG Latina: ¿Dirías que hay un mensaje en su música? ¿Cuál es el mensaje?
LDA: Si, Toda la música de LDA tienen letras bien profundas nos es solamente cantar y soltar porquería toda la canciones de LDA tiene un sentimiento bien fuerte y bien explicado.
SG Latina: ¿Como nace unas de tus canciones? (o sea ¿cual es tu proceso?)
LDA: Las canciones de nosotros salen en el momento. Cuando te baja la musa te siento contento y tu cuerpo reacciona a lo que dijiste y por ahí puede crear la música.
SG Latina: ¿Qué lo inspira para seguir teniendo éxito en la música?
LDA: Bueno, el cariño del público y como el público recibe a uno. Y ese es mi orgullo, mi felicidad cuando yo estoy en la tarima y veo un fanático cantando una de las canciones de nosotros y gozando el show eso me inspira.
SG Latina: ¿Qué mas podemos esperar de LDA?
LDA: Bueno, estamos terminando el nuevo álbum de LDA, “Revolucionado el género.” El álbum viene bien variado y bien internacional, comercial. Trae muchas cosas diferentes, lo que el género necesita.
LDA and Their New Wave of Reggeatón An Exclusive Interview on The Set of Their New Video
The Dominican duo also known as LDA (Baby Psycho & Orquídea Negra) split their time between doing interviews and filming scenes for their new video featuring Puerto Rican Reggeatón artist Baby Ranks and the band Hate. We spoke exclusively with Baby Psycho who filled us in on the backstage going-ons.
SG Latina: First of all, how are you feeling? What’s it like being here today on this set?
LDA: I feel great, especially being here with you.
SG Latina: Thanks. So what exactly is going here? What are you guys filming?
LDA: We’re revolutionizing the day. Working on one of the songs from the LDA album “Revoluncionado el Genro” (Revolutionizing the Genre) featuring a collaboration with Baby Ranks. Something new for this genre, mixing Reggeatón with Hip Hop and Rock.
SG Latina: What initially attracted you to Reggeatón?
LDA: Well, my interest in the urban sound comes because I’m Dominican. The tropical sound is already in my blood. They’re hot genres and I like upbeat, danceable music and so I began to do it. But truthfully I’m more comfortable doing Hip Hop.
SG Latina: So if you could collaborate with any Hip Hop artist who would it be?
LDA: I have many, I would love to work with T.I. and Lil Wayne [among others] so that we can get in there and properly represent our genre.
SG Latina: So tell me how did LDA form?
LDA: The group formed eight years ago. I was in a High School talent show when I met Orquídea and the other members of the group (who are no longer with us). It was a big group there were about six of us, we started having little problems within the group and slowly but surely it ended up just being myself and Orquídea. Without it being our intention we became the first male and female duo in the genre.
SG Latina: What have you learned from making music together?
LDA: She and I have great chemistry, we have the same rhythm. And when she goes off into her own world [musically] and I go into mine we always find a way to complement each other.
SG Latina: Would you say there’s a message in your music? What is it?
LDA: Yes, all of LDA’s music have very deep lyrics it’s not about singing and putting out garbage all of LDA’s songs have strong sentiments.
SG Latina: What’s your writing process like?
LDA: Our songs are born in the moment. When you find your muse or you find that inspiration your body reacts to it and [the lyrics just flow] with that you can create your music.
SG Latina: What inspires you to continue to have success in the business?
LDA: Well, the fans. Their love and support. That’s what I pride in and what brings me joy. Whenever I’m on stage and I spot fans singing one of our songs and just enjoying the show that inspires me.
SG Latina: What else can we expect from LDA?
LDA: Well, we’re finishing our new album, LDA’s “Revoluncionado el Genro” (Revolutionizing the Genre). The album is varied, very international, very commercial. It brings many different things what this genre needs.
