Authority Zero, “Stories of Survival”

“Stories of Survival” is Authority Zero’s latest and greatest album to date. The punk band which has seen its fair share of line up changes in its 16 year existence kick things off with Winston Churchill’s “Blood, Seat, Tears and Toil” speech in their intro track then take off with opening chords to “The New Pollution” the second track on the album. The album is politically charged and weaves punk, ska and reggae beats effortlessly throughout the remaining 11 tracks. Stand out tracks include “Big Bad World” and “Crashland.”

Tanadra, “Tanadra”

With a guitar-driven hard rock edge and soulful vocals Tanadra’s debut EP is a promising nod to the alternative hard rock scene. Her influences range from Guns ‘N roses to Alanis Morissette and Joan Jett and it’s evident in her four track EP. Her vocals are reminiscing of a young Tina Turner and her skills are best showcased in tracks “Pissed Off” and “Today Is The Day.” Expect to hear more from this promising star.

Peggy Sue, “Fossils And Other Phantoms”

UK folk power trio Peggy Sue makes their impressive debut with “Fossils And Other Phantoms.” Opening track “Long Division Blues” encapsulates what the band is all about, clever-thought provoking lyrics set to bluesy music sung harmoniously by vocalists Katy Young and Rosa Slade.  The album tackles dark issues such as regret, self-worth and longing but its deliverance makes melancholy alluring. “Fossils And Other Phantoms” simply put is a well-crafted record and downright cool.  Stand out tracks include “Green Grow the Rushes,” “Yo Mama” and “Long Division Blues.”
