Semi Precious Weapons, “You Love You”
The highly anticipated full-length debut album by New York glam rockers Semi Precious Weapons is finally here. “You Love You” is a filthy-glamorous-rocking debut from the foursome that pride themselves in bringing sex and glamour back to rock n roll. The 10-track album features 3 tracks from their previously released self-titled EP (“Magnetic Baby,” “Put a Diamond In It” and their anthem, “Semi Precious Weapons,” the track that proclaims, “I can’t pay by rent, but I’m fucking gorgeous!”) and 7 fantastic new tracks. For the most part, the album is fast-paced and full of rhythmic guitar-driven rock anthems-in-the-making. Then you reach the latter part of the album, “Leave Your Pretty To Me,” the seventh track on the record, a monster ballad that showcases front man Justin Tranter’s vocals and conveys a true vulnerability. The inclusion of this track proves that this band is more than just a party band who writes songs with catchy hooks. “Look At Me” is the second ballad on the record and although a good track it is not nearly as touching as “Leave Your Pretty To Me” nor has the same commercial appeal. Once you reach the final track you get the feisty Semi Precious Weapons we’ve come to love with infectious licks and lyrics such as, “Her hair! Her Hair! Her hair is on fire, she don’t want no water let her fucking head burn!” Among favorites are, “Sticky with Champagne,” “Leave Your Pretty To Me,” “Her Hair is On Fire” and “Semi Precious Weapons.”
Hey Rosetta!, “Into Your Lungs”
“Into Your Lungs” is a harmonious, multi-dimensional, textured record by six-piece indie Canadian rockers, Hey Rosetta! The album consists of well crafted power ballads and up-tempo musically diverse tracks. The vocals are strong and come off bittersweet in tracks that convey sorrow or loss and plays well against any musical backdrop. Stand out tracks include, “I’ve been asleep for a long, long time,” “There’s An Arc” and “A Thousands Suns.”
Brookhaven, “When the Chorus Walks” (August 16th)
“When The Chorus Walks” is the most recent release of California based, Brookhaven. The album features seven instrumental pieces that bring new meaning to indie rock music. The tracks are entrancing, mellow, guitar-driving tunes and stand out tracks include, “Something Must Remain of Us,” and titled track “When the Chorus Walks.”
