Stewart, “Kicks” (June 15th)
Stewart’s appropriately titled album, “Kicks” kicks ass. The Brooklyn pop-punk band showcases their many talents in a span of nine tracks. Lead off single, “Dance With Me” asks listeners to “take a chance…and dance with me” something you’ll gladly find yourself doing to the energetic, fun-filled track. Tracks like “Consider Me Gone,” “Goodbye” and “Aloof” can easily play alongside any of the current top 40 hits on today’s charts. With their clever lyrics and references to pop culture it’s easy to predict that these guys (guitarist John White & drummer Kevin Cerovich) and gal (vocalist Andrea Tarka) will become this year’s breakthrough act. Don’t believe us? Check out their lead off single, “Dance With Me” here.
Breathing Blue, “Breathing Blue” (June 11th)
Breathing Blue’s self-titled debut EP consists of six fast-paced well executed tracks. “Chasing The World” features a rhythmic and memorable opener as vocalist Justin Sanford proclaims “the sounds collide” guitarists Rob Bost and Matt Basilotto weave their chords along to bassist Chris Dechert’s musical stylings and Jason LaRaia precise drumming. Track “Real Eyes (Realize; Real Lies)” will surely have audiences dancing at their shows but without a doubt the song “Sparkle” which is listed as a bonus track has anthem written all over it.
JBM, “Not Even In July” (July 27th)
Jesse Marchant a.k.a. JBM’s debut album “Not Even In July” is set to hit stores and ipods around the world on July 27th. The album’s profound lyrics and mellow accompaniment will tug at your heart strings. His vocals are emotionally charged but light at the same time leaving listeners wondering if they’re intruding on a very personal moment in the songwriter’s life. Each track is diverse and intense in its own way. “Not Even In July” has the potential of touching the biggest cynic and leave him or her with the feeling of hope.
Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling, “The New Number 2”
The retro looking and sounding duo comprised of drums/vocals (by Sophia Cacciola) and bass (by Michael Epstein) pay homage to spy-fi TV show The Prisoner with their clever 6-track EP, “The New Number 2.” The tracks are titled after episodes and feature fast-paced energetic music and breathy vocals. This 60s-spy-show theme rock band not only stands out in terms of look and sound, but they also deliver the goods.
